Luke Galeotti, A Police Officer Inspired to Build a Career Incorporating Strain Counterstrain

I am currently serving in the Air National Guard as a police officer (Security Forces). My journey in the Air Force has been quite challenging at times with 6 months of initial training at Lackland AFB Texas, followed by another 6 months of follow up training at my first duty station in Portland, including a National Shooting competition in Little Rock Arkansas and live fire exercises with the Air Force Special Forces unit Pararescuemen or commonly known as PJ’s. When you go through challenges like these it teaches you a lot about yourself. I have grown so much in these past few years.

I have always wanted to serve others and make life better for those around me. As I do love serving this country I also have noticed a few things about it that I would like to play a part in changing for the better. American Health. There is a lot of good in the health industry and there are also areas to be improved upon.

A few months before I was shipped off to basic military training, I found out that my mother had stage 4 breast cancer. Knowing her medical history, being sensitive to medication and chemicals of all sorts, we knew that she would not survive chemotherapy if she went down that road. She was already bed ridden and unable to leave the house for months at a time and her right arm could not be used for much at all.

Her doctor said that she would never be able to use her arm again due to a build up of calcium on her bones. Her only option was to seek out alternative means of treatment. She ended up finding a Naturopathic Medical Doctor in Portland Oregon who helped her not only understand why she has chemical sensitivity but she also got her in contact with others going through the same thing.

She then found an organization on facebook called “The Truth About Cancer” and others in the area that were treating and curing cancer using extreme diet techniques and removal of chemicals in their lives to reset their bodies to fight off the cancer.

After months and months of research and implementing everything she could to support her health. She was under watchful eye from multiple cancer specialists and naturopathic doctors. She kept up this lifestyle with the help of my father who worked 3 jobs in order to support her hefty financial burden and her inability to work a job.

My Brother at the time had been building relationships with the crossfit community at Crossfit Fort Vancouver and came across a Physical Therapist “Ike Anunciado” who is the owner of 360 Physical Therapy in Vancouver WA and travels with the Crossfit Games team. He uses a technique called Strain Counterstrain and treats the athletes before and after their competitions.

My brother was having back problems at the time due to stopping his boat from rolling down his steep driveway into the neighbors kitchen by jumping in front of it and pushing it back into his garage. His treatments with Ike changed his life and allowed for major healing in his back and preventative knowledge to keep his body healthy.

Because of his great success with Strain Counterstrain my mother decided to see Ike about her shoulder and after one treatment she was able to put her arm above her head, which hadn’t been possible at all without immense pain. She was no longer having sharp pain in her arm and although she would need regular treatment to heal her shoulder. She now had hope of living a normal life with the full use of both arms.

She then started getting treatments from a LMT in Battle Ground WA at Clearwater Escape from “Kristen Clearwater” using Thai Massage to support what Ike was doing along with Acupuncture.

Five years later she is now cancer free without the use of Chemo. This journey has changed my view and the view of many skeptical doctors and friends in her life who advised her against this unorthodox treatment. My mother is alive and well and has energy to do crossfit with my brother and I in her 50’s and work a job as the head chef of our family’s restaurant.

Watching my mom’s journey to health has inspired me and I have made it my mission in life to help others be the best and healthiest version of themselves that they can be through massage treatment with a focus on Thai Massage despite the fact that I am a man in an industry that is primarily led by women. I also plan on building on my career after Massage Therapy School incorporating Strain Counterstrain and journeying to find other Osteopathic Medicine techniques to add to my arsenal to fight against poor health in America.

The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
