Requirements to Become a Massage Therapy School Teacher in Oregon, the state of Oregon has clear and simple requirements to become a massage instructor at an Oregon massage school.

Oregon requires three years experience in the message field and a massage license within the state of Oregon.

Educational Requirements for Massage Instructors

While a specific instructor license is not required to teach massage therapy, a massage license is required for all massage therapy instructors in Oregon.

The state requires 625 hours of education, broken down into the following hours:

  • 200 hours of Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Kinesiology
  • 300 hours Massage related curriculum including theory & practical application
  • 125 hours electives

A massage therapy license costs $240 for the initial license, with a $155 renewal fee every 2 years.

Additionally, liability insurance is required, which varies greatly in price base don provider but on average costs around $200 per year.

There is no additional instructor license to teach in Oregon, but there will be a variable fee for the 25 hours of continuing education required every 2 years.
