Educational Requirements for Massage Instructors

The requirement is a minimum of 25 hours every 2 years, with a minimum of 4 hours in professional ethics.
Of those 25 hours, at least 15 must be in a person continuing education hours, while the remaining 10 may be online or electronic forms of continuing education.

The state of Oregon requires its practitioners or teachers to carry professional liability insurance.
Liability insurance is available through a massage professional organization, such as AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) or ABMP (Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals).

A massage therapy license costs $240 for the initial license, with a $155 renewal fee every 2 years.
